In Need of Writing Inspiration?

Today I need some inspiration. If you’re a writer, maybe you need some, too. I find I always have an excuse for not writing. It’s called procrastination Do these quotes inspire?

“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”   ~ Jack London

I’ve got a club, but no golf ball to hit.

“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.” – Robert Frost

I have tears, but now I need a tissue. Surprise! I’m all out of tissues.

“When your story is ready for rewrite, cut it to the bone. Get rid of every ounce of excess fat. – Stephen King

I cut it to the bone. I got rid of every ounce of fat. Now my page is blank!

“If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word.” – Margaret Atwood

I guess that’s why I have a blank page in front of me.

Writing a novel is like building a wall brick by brick; only amateurs believe in inspiration.” – Frank Yerby

I guess that makes me an amateur.

“Writing to me is simply thinking through my fingers.” – Isaac Asimov

Well, Isaac must have extraordinary fingers!

“The scariest moment is right before you start.” – Kathryn Moorhouse

Now that’s a quote with which I can agree.

Before you start, here are some sound tips from freelance copywriter and editor, Claire Wilkins.

First, you have to start.

Keep going.

Don’t lose your sense of humor.

Believe in yourself.

Being a writer is awesome.

Are you ready?

Let’s start from the very beginning. A very good place to start…

Hmmm, that sounds familiar. Is that inspiration or something else? Procrastination?

Whatever it is, good luck writers!
